How to make real chai
Items required – per person
Small pot (saucepan)
Tea strainer
1 teaspoons black tea
1/2 teaspoon of chai masala
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup milk of choice
Sweetener of choice (sugar, jaggery)
- Place saucepan on the stove over medium-high heat, add water and black tea
- Bring to the boil (takes 3-4 min), then allow slow simmer for about a minute
- Now add milk, sweetener and chai masala
- Bring to the boil again (takes 3-4 min)
- Turn down the heat to low and allow simmer for about a minute
- Remove the saucepan from the stove and carefully strain into a cup, serve!
